FRIDAY MORNING - ARRIVAL TO ROVANIEMI

This package is tailored for Ryanair direct flights in the summer, specifically from Milan-Bergamo (BGY) to Rovaniemi (RVN), arriving on Fridays at 11:25. While we recommend booking these flights (not included in the price), the package is also suitable for overnight trains and other Finnair flights departing from Helsinki.

The airport is located 15 min away from the Rovaniemi city center, which makes it very easy and comfortable to reach the heart of Rovaniemi where your accommodation is located. For a smooth arrival to Lapland, airport transfers can be easily arranged in advance by our guide team (extra option to select when booking) ; if you select this option, you will then be transferred to our Nordic Odyssey office in the city centre where you can safely store your luggage before checking in at your accommodation (hotels check-ins are usually from around 15:00). Bus shuttle or taxis are also available upon arrival if you do not want to book our own transfers.

There are plenty of options available in the center for a well-deserved lunch!

FRIDAY AFTERNOON - OPTION

The afternoon is free and dedicated to the exploration of the city on your own.

For travelers who would like to make the most of their adventure to Lapland, we have listed extra activities that are possible during their allocated free times, including the visit of the Arktikum Museum (on your own), the visit of Santa Claus Village (on your own), a private wilderness sauna session with a visit to the reindeer farm (extra tour to select), a visit to an ethical husky kennel and meet the puppies (extra tour to select), a group panoramic sauna session with swimming in the river (extra tour to select), or a trip to Ranua Zoo (extra tour to select).

From 15:00/16:00 onward, you will be able to check-in at your selected hotel, located within a few hundred meters from our office.

FRIDAY EVENING - CANOE ADVENTURE UNDER THE MIDNIGHT SUN / SUNSET

As “night” comes, it will be time for your first adventure! You will go for a guided canoe trip on Rovaniemi’s rivers. Depending on the period of your holidays, you may enjoy the glory of the Midnight Sun or the beautiful gold colors of the late sunset reflecting on the peaceful waters.

During the experience, you will enjoy paddling your own canoe (2 or 3 people per canoe) on a quiet lake away from the Rovaniemi area. This is a great outdoor experience that allows you to connect with the beautiful silent arctic nature while enjoying some gentle exercise.

A perfect first experience to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of Lapland summer!

SATURDAY - MORNING HIKE IN THE WILDERNESS

Let’s hike & discover Lapland landscapes and their treasures! You will have the option to select your preference between :

– a Berry Picking Walk (from early-July until mid-September), which focuses on foraging the forests in search of delicious berries and/or mushrooms. The hike is usually shorter as time is spent to look for Lapland berries, mushrooms and other edible plants (depending on the time of the year) that you can later cook and enjoy during the snack break around the fire!

– a Wilderness Hike (all summer), designed to go through some elusive nature area or reach some viewpoints over the immense subarctic forests. Along the way, your outdoor guide will explain to you about your surroundings, the fauna and flora, footprints in the early snow or in the mud, how to use trees or mushrooms, identify the berries to eat, and some other basics of how to survive in such difficult conditions. which offers different difficulty options and is usually around 4-5km

Both hiking experiences allow you to grill a typical Finnish snack on an open fire with hot beverages. This is a great opportunity for your guide to show you how to build a fire in Arctic conditions and answer all your questions about Lapland.

SUNDAY MORNING - E-FATBIKE TOUR

Your Sunday will start with an electric fatbike tour. The fat tires of your bikes allow you to ride on every kind of terrain, including easy cycling paths, forests trails, or sand (and snow in Winter). The engine will help you in the most difficult moments and will offer incredible comfort. This is the perfect way to explore Rovaniemi and the surrounding nature in summer! The tour is also adapted to all levels, including begginers or family with teenagers. Our guide will always adapt the ride and the pace to the physical level of the group ; the groups are also kept very small to allow for a more intimate and adapted experience.

You will get to choose between three options :

– CULTURAL: You will discover with your guide a few famous attractions in the town but also some less-famous hidden treasures related to cultural, architectural and historical aspects of the city-centre. After the visit of the city-center, you will cycle over the river through some forests in the direction of Santa Claus Village. There you may cross the Polar Arctic Circle, meet Santa Claus and discover the official post office where all letters arrive from all around the world. This option is recommended if you would like to enjoy an easier and informative itinerary, and if you have not visited Santa Claus Village on your own on another day.

– REINDEER FARM: Enjoy an easy ride through local forests and Lappish nature to reach a traditional reindeer farm. Enjoy a complete visit of an authentic reindeer farm, meet the herders and their animals, learn about their lifestyles and reindeer husbandry. As it is the only visit of the day, you will also get the chance to feed the reindeers with some of their favourite food directly from your hands.

This option is recommended if you would like to enjoy gentle exercise, nature and learn more about local lifestyle, and if you have not already visited the reindeer farm on your own on another day.

– ADVENTURE: Your guide will lead you on a scenic itinerary throughs forests paths and cycling trails. The tour is always adapted, based on your level and condition. The chosen route is designed to let you first get familiar with your fatbike on easy cycling paths before entering forests roads and/or reaching hilltops. This option is recommended if you would like to enjoy e-fatbiking in a more adventurous but level-adapted circuit.

You will be back to Rovaniemi for lunchtime in the city-center or at your hotel.

SUNDAY EVENING - DEPARTURE FROM ROVANIEMI

Our guide team can arrange airport transfers in advance for an extra charge (available when booking). You’ll be picked up around 18:30 from our Nordic Odyssey office in the city center, where you can safely store your luggage. This allows you to explore the city before your flight from Rovaniemi (RVN) to Milan-Bergamo (BGY).

If you prefer more flexibility, you can also choose from overnight trains or Finnair flights to Helsinki. Buses and taxis are easily available from the city center for your convenience.

EASY TRAVEL TO ROVANIEMI

With direct fights connecting Milan or Helsinki to Rovaniemi, Lapland has never been so easy to visit in summer! This weekend package has been designed to make the most of Rovaniemi, the world-famous hometown of Santa Claus, in just 3 days (Friday morning to Sunday evening).

In the summertime, days are very long in the Arctic with absolutely no darkness at night between mid-May and mid-August. This allows you to enjoy Rovaniemi, the capital of the Finnish Lapland, in just a few days! This is the perfect weekend getaway you deserve – don’t miss our super deal!

INFORMATION

PLEASE NOTE

A minimum of 2 adult participants is required for the package to operate.

Accommodation are in twin rooms in our partner hotels located in city center ; the reservations are based on the rate selected (ECONOMY or COMFORT). For Economy, hotels are 2* or 3*. For Comfort, hotels are 4*. Hotel reservations include Wifi, hotel services and buffet breakfast. For odd number of participants, an extra bed is added in the twin room (twin room is therefore shared by three people) unless the Solo Room extra is selected ; in this case, solo travelers will have their own additional room. Please select one Solo Room extra per additional room.
Buffet dinner can be added in the reservation with a supplement per person.

The hotel reservation will be sent along with the program schedule, within 2 working days after the booking is received.
The activity program as described in the itinerary is our standard program – however, based on your selection of options and the remaining availability, the schedule may be adapted in order to provide a better schedule that fits all the selected options in a well-organized timeframe. Our dedicated team will review the program in order to make it as easy and adjusted as possible, based on your wishes. The program schedule will be sent along with the hotel reservation, within 2 working days after the booking is received.

All tours are operated in small-groups or on a private basis, and are led by a professional guide of Nordic Odyssey.

Airport transfers organized by our team is adapted to the flight schedules – we recommend booking our own transfers for a smooth arrival/departure. Luggage can be safely stored at our Nordic Odyssey office in the city center.

Child rate applies under 12 years old. For safety reasons, we may need to adjust the activities for young children so please contact us BEFORE booking so we can make sure that the activities are well adapted to kids. Minimum size for e-fatbike is 150cm (155cm min. for comfort).

The meeting point for the activities will be the Nordic Odyssey office located 2-5 minutes by walking from your hotel. Transportation and most of the activities are in small groups. Participants will be accompanied by a professional guide during their holidays.
