Private Wilderness Sauna Experience in Summer & Autumn

• Please dress appropriately for the weather, as conditions in Lapland can change quickly.  In summer, wear comfortable outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes and a light waterproof jacket. In autumn, choose warm layers, a waterproof jacket, sturdy shoes or boots, a hat and gloves.
• Please bring a swimsuit and an extra set of dry clothes for the sauna experience.
• We recommend bringing a bottle of water to stay well hydrated throughout the experience.

A hotel sauna is often electrically heated, while a traditional Finnish sauna is heated with firewood. Water is poured over the hot stones to create löyly, the warm steam at the heart of Finnish sauna culture. During the experience, you can enjoy the heat at your own pace, cool down outside in the fresh air, and try optional swimming when conditions are safe. This traditional sauna experience reflects a way of life that has been part of Finnish culture for generations and is recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Yes. Children are welcome to join the experience. In Finland, families often enjoy the sauna together, and the private session can be adapted to each child’s age and comfort. Young children should spend only a short time in the sauna and remain under constant adult supervision. They may also stay in the warm cabin with an adult. Ice swimming in winter is not recommended for young children, but they can step outside with an adult to cool down in the fresh air or snow and experience the traditional contrast between heat and cold.

Yes. A wooden pontoon provides direct access to the lake for guests who would like to cool off in the water after the sauna. Swimming is optional and depends on personal comfort and the conditions. You can also cool down outside without entering the lake.

We offer several departure times for this private wilderness sauna experience:
Daytime session at 13:00: A good choice for enjoying the surrounding forest and lakeside scenery in daylight. This departure is especially suitable for families and guests who prefer an earlier experience.
Afternoon session at 16:30: Ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring Rovaniemi. Depending on the season and weather, you may experience bright summer light or beautiful autumn colours around the lake.
Evening session at 19:30: Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the wilderness as the evening light changes over the lake. During summer, the landscape remains bright late into the evening. From September onwards, darker skies may offer an opportunity to see the Northern Lights when conditions are favourable.
Midnight sun session at 21:30: The best choice for experiencing Lapland’s luminous summer nights and the Midnight Sun around midsummer. Later in the season, the departure offers a quieter atmosphere beneath the autumn night sky.
Overnight stay in the wilderness cabin with traditional sauna: Combine the evening sauna with a private overnight stay for a deeper immersion in Lapland’s nature. Dinner, sleeping equipment and breakfast are included, giving you more time to enjoy the cabin, sauna and lakeside surroundings.

This experience takes place at a carefully selected private wilderness location in Rovaniemi region. The exact location is shared with confirmed guests. The one-way vehicle transfer from Rovaniemi to the activity starting point takes approximately 45 minutes. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included. This estimate refers only to the one-way journey by vehicle to the point where the activity begins. It does not include the activity itself.
