Discover Lapland from a new perspective this summer! Canoeing is one of the best ways to enjoy the region’s peaceful rivers and lakes, surrounded by stunning colors and abundant wildlife.
This gentle canoe trip is specially designed for very beginners and for anyone who may not be confident in water or swimming. You’ll paddle a canoe on a calm portion of river near Rovaniemi, in a safe and relaxed environment. It’s a wonderful way to connect with the Arctic nature while enjoying light exercise at your own pace. Paddling distance is also more limited (2-3km) with longer breaks if needed.
The tour is led by a certified canoeing guide, who will provide simple paddling instructions, ensure your safety, and assist whenever needed. You’ll also hear stories and insights about the local nature and wildlife.
Halfway through, you’ll take a break to enjoy a small snack and hot drinks. The trip lasts around 3 hours.
If you’re confident on the water or have previous experience with water sports, we recommend our canoe trip, available in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Evening tours let you enjoy Lapland’s endless summer sunsets or, in autumn, even the Northern Lights—perfect for those ready to paddle on cooler waters!

We recommend to book in advance, as availability may be limited in peak seasons.
A minimum of 2 paying adult participants is required for the trip to operate. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if the group is too small or because of bad weather conditions.
Participants will steer their own canoe ; one participant can be with the guide if they do not feel comfortable with paddling alone. Each canoe can accommodate 2 adults and one child. You can choose between a shared small group experience, limited to 8 participants, or a private group tour — both designed to offer a personal and memorable adventure. For larger group bookings, feel free to contact us directly.
This tour is specially designed for beginners and for those who are not confident in the water or cannot swim. The guide will take the time to ensure everyone feels safe, and the pace is gentle. The trip is not intended to be long or sporty, making it perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
If you are a solo traveler, you are very welcome to join any departing trip at the standard price or we may organise the trip just for you at some extra costs (please contact us).
Child prices apply only to children under 12 years old. Children must be accompanied by one adult. The child rate only applies if the conditions of two paying adult participant is met.
Please dress appropriately according to the weather, with comfortable (preferably waterproof) clothes, hats/sunglasses and sunscreen.
This tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers or for people with back issues. We do not recommend for children under 4 years old to join as the trip either ; their participation is subject to our approval before booking the tour.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled between 7 days and 24h before departure.
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 24h or less before departure.
