DESCRIPTION
A RELAXING EVENING IN THE WILDERNESS!
Enjoy a great local lifestyle experience with this evening tour! Your guide will take you into deep forests to a wilderness cabin with a log sauna. The traditional cabin has no electricity or running water; the small lake and nature around is providing everything it needs! The place if beautiful and extremely peaceful – perfect for a relaxing moment!
Your guide will lit the wood-burner in the sauna and give you more instructions how to use it in the very Finnish way. There is also a pontoon that leads directly to the lake if you are brave enough to go in the water! It is extremely healthy to alternate hot sauna with cold water (or at least cold air). In autumn and winter, the water is covered with a thick layer of ice, but it is possible to enjoy “snow swimming” to cool down the body.
Sauna towels, soaps, birch tar oil and other equipment needed will be provided by your guide (please bring your swimsuit if you need to ; or sauna can also be naked like Finns usually do…). The experience is always private and the guide will give you all privacy needed. He / she will prepare a local snack around the fire while you enjoy the traditional sauna.
AURORA BOREALIS
The location of the sauna is perfect for Northern Lights spotting when the weather conditions allow it. The lake is oriented north with absolutely no light pollution! Please note that the northern lights is up to Mother Nature, and is not guaranteed. If you are interested in a specific northern light hunting tour, we recommend our photography hunt.

In summertime, between May and August, the sauna is located in a perfect place to enjoy the Midnight Sun and beautiful sunset colors.

The entire experience lasts approximately 3,5 hours, including transportation, with about one hour dedicated to the sauna session.
ADD A DINNER FOR YOUR SAUNA EXPERIENCE
Make your sauna moment even more special with a wilderness dinner served in the cozy wooden cottage. While you relax in the warm steam, your guide will prepare a hearty Finnish soup, accompanied with warm drinks and sweet pastries for dessert.

The experience is always private for intimacy reasons. We recommend to book in advance, as availability may be limited in peak seasons.
The price applies to the entire group of up to 6 participants. The wilderness sauna can comfortably accommodate up to 7 people.
Children from 2 years old in summer and autumn and 4 years old in winter are accepted on this tour, but long sauna exposition is not recommended for children under 8 years old. In Winter, the conditions may be very cold (-30C) and the wilderness cottage cannot be warmed to standard temperatures.
Please dress appropriately according to the weather. We also recommend to bring extra drinks and an extra chlothing set with you for after sauna. Adults may bring their own alcoholic drinks (like beers or local long drinks) for sauna time, but we require a moderate alcohol consumption.
About sauna: the sauna takes a very important place in the traditions and culture of Finland. Finns normally go to sauna naked but it is possible to use your own swimsuit. Sauna stands for the bathroom in the wilderness cabins ; after enjoying the steam sauna, you may then take a natural shower with the hot clean waters!
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled between 7 days and 24h before departure.
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 24h or less before departure.
