A LOCAL DAY EXPERIENCING LAPPISH LIFESTYLE
Enjoy a true local lifestyle with this summer & autumn tour, combining an authentic reindeer farm visit with a relaxing lakeside sauna experience in the wilderness.
Your adventure begins at a long-established reindeer farm, where you will meet the iconic animals of Lapland. This is your chance to get up close with these lovely furry anumals, feed them, take photos, and learn more about them. The local herders will warmly welcome you and share stories of their way of life, passed down through generations.
After the reindeer farm visit, your guide will take you into deep forests to a wilderness cabin with a log sauna. The traditional cottage, called mökki in Finnish, has no electricity or running water, the nearby lake and surrounding nature provide everything you need! The setting is beautiful and incredibly peaceful, making it the perfect place to relax
Your guide will lit the wood-burner in the sauna and give you more instructions how to use it in the very Finnish way. There is also a pontoon that leads directly to the lake if you are brave enough to go in the water! It is extremely healthy to alternate hot sauna with cold water (or at least cold air).
Sauna towels, soaps, birch tar oil and other equipment needed will be provided by your guide (please bring your swimsuit if you need to; or sauna can also be naked like Finns usually do…). The experience is always private and the guide will give you all privacy needed. Your guide will prepare hot drinks in the cabin while you enjoy the traditional sauna.The sauna session lasts approximately one hour.
MAKE IT A COMBO EXPERIENCE
The cabin is located in a peaceful area, that offers many other local activity opportunities: canoeing or rowing boat, fishing, swimming, or berry-picking… If you would like to extend a bit more time to enjoy a complete local experience, please let us know (+50€/additional hour). We may also arrange a wilderness lunch if you would like to.

The experience is always private for intimacy reasons. We recommend to book in advance, as availability may be limited in peak seasons.
A minimum of 2 paying adult participants is required for the trip to operate. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if the group is too small.
If you are a solo traveler, we will require that you buy this private trip for the price of two adults.
Child prices apply only to children under 12 years old. The child rate only apply if the conditions of two paying adult participant is met. Children from 2 years old are tolerated on this tour, but long sauna exposition is not recommended for children under 8 years old.
Please dress appropriately according to the weather, especially for the reindeer farm visit. We also recommend to bring an extra chlothing set with you for after sauna.
About sauna: the sauna takes a very important place in the traditions and culture of Finland. Finns normally go to sauna naked but it is possible to use your own swimsuit. Sauna stands for the bathroom in the wilderness cabins ; after enjoying the steam sauna, you may then take a natural shower with the hot clean waters!
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled between 7 days and 24h before departure.
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 24h or less before departure.
