Private Arctic SnowHotel Visit & Wilderness Sauna

• The temperature inside the SnowHotel remains between approximately 0°C and −5°C. We recommend wearing warm clothing, comfortable hiking shoes or winter boots, gloves, and beanies. Dressing in layers will help you stay comfortable throughout the tour.
• Bring a swimsuit when you prefer to wear one, along with an extra set of dry clothes for afterward.
• The food and drinks listed in the tour inclusions are provided. We recommend eating a good meal before departure and bringing extra snacks and a bottle of water.

The Ice Bar is normally open during the visit, and drinks can be purchased separately. Some drinks are served in a glass made of ice, adding a memorable touch to the experience.

Our SnowHotel visit is scheduled outside the Ice Restaurant’s dinner service, allowing you to explore the art rooms without disturbing dining guests. For this reason, dinner cannot be ordered during the visit.To add a three-course dinner at the Ice Restaurant, please contact us separately by email in advance so we can confirm the available options.

The temperature inside the SnowHotel usually stays between 32°F and 23°F (0°C and −5°C). We recommend wearing warm layers, winter boots, thick socks, gloves, and a hat so you can explore comfortably. Winter overalls and boots are also available to rent when requested in advance.

We deliberately operate this experience in the afternoon because, from our experience, it is the best time to visit the Arctic SnowHotel.

In winter, daylight is precious in Lapland, so we prefer to keep the brighter part of the day available for outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, skiing, reindeer visits or other nature experiences. The SnowHotel is indoors and beautifully illuminated, so you do not need natural daylight to enjoy it.

The afternoon also helps us avoid some of the busiest visiting periods, including the morning crowds and visitors arriving with the SnowHotel’s own public transfer buses. At the same time, we plan our visit to finish before the restaurants begin receiving their dinner guests, which starts from around 17:00–17:30 depending on the restaurant and reservation.

For us, this timing offers a much more relaxed visit while still leaving your morning and early afternoon free for outdoor adventures.

Not on the standard version of this experience. Our tour is designed as a guided visit to the Arctic SnowHotel, without dinner, so that you can return to Rovaniemi before the evening.

However, it is possible to dine at the SnowHotel. Depending on the season and availability, options include the Ice Restaurant, with a three-course dinner inside the SnowHotel; the Kota Restaurant, where meals are prepared around an open fire; and the Log Restaurant buffet. In winter, the Ice Restaurant currently offers dinner seatings at 17:30, 19:00 and 20:30, while the Kota Restaurant offers dinner at 19:00 and 21:00.

If you would like to combine the visit with dinner, contact us about arranging a private experience. We can adapt the timing and include the appropriate restaurant reservation when available.

One practical point: dinner in Finland is often earlier than visitors from some countries are used to. If you normally prefer eating later in the evening, we often recommend enjoying the SnowHotel visit with us and having dinner afterwards at one of the restaurants in Rovaniemi city centre.

The SnowHotel is visually impressive and fun to explore, with ice and snow rooms, sculptures and unusual architecture that usually keep children interested. The guided visit itself takes approximately one hour, which is long enough to discover the main areas without making the experience too tiring or repetitive for younger visitors.

Our guide can also adapt the explanations to the group, making the visit more engaging and accessible for children.

Yes. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi, our guide and the Arctic SnowHotel entrance tickets are all included in the price of the experience.

Water is poured over the hot stones to create löyly, the warm steam at the heart of Finnish sauna culture. During the experience, you can enjoy the heat at your own pace, cool down outside in the fresh air, and try optional swimming when conditions are safe. This traditional sauna experience reflects a way of life that has been part of Finnish culture for generations and is recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

In Finland, a sauna is usually enjoyed in several relaxed rounds rather than one long session. Spend time in the wood-heated sauna, pour water over the hot stones to create löyly, then step outside to cool down in the fresh winter air before returning to the warmth. You can repeat this cycle at your own pace, taking breaks whenever needed. This alternation between heat, cooling, and relaxation is at the heart of the traditional Finnish sauna experience.

Yes. Children are welcome to join the experience. In Finland, families often enjoy the sauna together, and the private session can be adapted to each child’s age and comfort. Young children should spend only a short time in the sauna and remain under constant adult supervision. They may also stay in the warm cabin with an adult. Ice swimming in winter is not recommended for young children, but they can step outside with an adult to cool down in the fresh air or snow and experience the traditional contrast between heat and cold.

Yes, when the ice and weather conditions allow it, your guide can prepare a swimming hole in the frozen lake. Ice swimming is completely optional. You may simply enjoy the wood-heated sauna and cool down outside in the fresh winter air or snow instead.

This tour takes place at Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos in Sinettä, Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland. The one-way vehicle transfer from Rovaniemi to the activity starting point usually takes approximately 30–45 minutes. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included. This estimate refers only to the one-way journey by vehicle to the point where the activity begins. It does not include the activity itself.
