Private Husky Adventure with Self-Driven 6-10km Safari

• Participants must arrive suitably dressed for cold winter weather. We recommend wearing warm clothing, comfortable hiking shoes or winter boots, gloves, and beanies. Dressing in layers will help you stay comfortable throughout the tour.

Yes. Nordic Odyssey works with a local kennel partner experienced in caring for and training working sled dogs. Most are Alaskan huskies—athletic dogs with a strong natural motivation to run, for whom regular exercise is an important part of their well-being. After the safari, you can meet the huskies and speak directly with the mushers about their training, individual personalities and everyday care.

No previous experience is required. Before the safari, the mushers provide complete driving and safety instructions and introduce you to your dog team. A guide accompanies the experience, and participants can choose whether to switch between driving and travelling as a passenger during the safari.

Yes, children aged four and older may participate when accompanied by an adult. Only adults aged 18 and over may drive the husky sled , while children travel as passengers.

The dogs you will meet on our Rovaniemi husky safari are mainly Alaskan Huskies, which are particularly well suited to working as sled dogs. They are athletic, energetic and bred primarily for qualities such as endurance, speed, temperament and willingness to run rather than for a specific appearance.

This is why Alaskan Huskies can look very different from one another: their size, colours, markings and coat types vary considerably. The very uniform, fluffy, black-and-white, often blue-eyed Siberian Husky that many visitors imagine is the image commonly seen in films, advertising and popular culture, but it is not necessarily what a working sled-dog team in Lapland looks like.

This experience takes place at a carefully selected husky kennel in Rovaniemi region. The exact location is shared with confirmed guests. The one-way vehicle transfer from Rovaniemi to the activity starting point takes approximately 45 minutes. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included. This estimate refers only to the one-way journey by vehicle to the point where the activity begins. It does not include the activity itself.
