DESCRIPTION
Reindeer is probably the most iconic animal of Lapland, it has played a significant part in local traditional lifestyle. Meeting those lovely semi-wild animals is always a unique experience for anyone visiting Rovaniemi!
As you arrive to the reindeer farm, you will be introduced to your own reindeer and sleigh. A herder will always be with you and will lead the caravan (please note that a self-driven ride is not posible on longer distances because reindeer are semi-wild animals).
Reindeer sleigh rides were traditionally a way of transportation for loads and passengers in Lapland. Nowadays, certain skillful herders continue training the best elements of their herds to perpetuate this tradition.
As you are enjoying a romantic ride, you will go through some beautiful snowy forests and other typical snowy landscapes of Lapland. This will take you to an incredible night experience in Lappish nature, allowing you to enjoy the deep feeling of Kaamos, the Polar Night. And if you are just lucky enough, Northern lights might also illuminate the sky, for a perfect experience!
After the ride, you will enjoy a lovely time at the farm, in a warm wooden building, where herders will serve you hot drinks & biscuits, and answer all your questions about reindeer husbandry.

We recommend to book in advance, as availability may be limited in peak seasons.
A minimum of 2 paying adult participants is required for the trip to operate. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if the group is too small or because of bad weather conditions.
If you are a solo traveler, you are very welcome to join any departing trip at the standard price or we may organise the trip just for you at some extra costs (please contact us).
Child prices apply only to children between 4 and 12 years old. Children must be accompanied by one adult. The child rate only apply if the conditions of two paying adult participant is met. We recommend children to be aged at least 8 years old for this experience in harsh winter conditions.
The mentioned duration of the safari is only indicative; the experience may last longer or shorter, depending on snow conditions or the animal’s good willing.
About Northern Lights : it is possible to observe Northern lights during the experience as the farm and the forests are located away from city light pollution. However, auroras are an unpredictable phenomenon and require clear weather conditions ; they are not guaranteed and should only be considered as a bonus to the reindeer experience. 🙂
Meeting Time & Pick up : Note that the pick up time is for information purpose; thus, the exact pick up time will be communicated to you via email the day before the experience. We offer free pick up and drop off services in a 8km range from the city center which includes for example Ounasvaara and Santa Claus Village. For ecological and logistical reasons, we may kindly ask you to walk directly to our office (Jaakonkatu 4-6, 96200 Rovaniemi) when your accommodation is located less than 750 meters from our Nordic Odyssey office in the city center. Airport transfers or transfers from more than 8km from the city center may be arranged upon request at extra cost.

CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled between 7 days and 24h before departure.
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 24h or less before departure.
