2-Day Brown Bear Watching & Oulanka National Park Hike

• Please dress appropriately for the weather, as conditions in Lapland can change quickly.  In summer, wear comfortable outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes and a light waterproof jacket. In autumn, choose warm layers, a waterproof jacket, sturdy shoes or boots, a hat and gloves.
• You should bring everything required for an overnight stay, including sleepwear, personal toiletries and cleansing wipes. 
• The wilderness cabin has no electricity, so we strongly recommend bringing a fully charged power bank or spare batteries for cameras and other electronic devices.
• Wear dark or neutral-coloured clothing and avoid bright colours. Perfume, strongly scented products and mosquito repellent must not be used, as unfamiliar smells can disturb the bears and other wildlife.
• The food and drinks listed in the tour inclusions are provided. We recommend eating a good meal before departure and bringing extra snacks and a bottle of water.

The observation cabin is situated in an area regularly visited by brown bears, and the operator reports a typical viewing success rate of approximately 90%. However, these are completely wild animals, so their appearance, number and length of stay can never be guaranteed. Guests should be prepared to wait quietly for several hours.

The remote cabin is designed specifically for wildlife observation, with large viewing windows, camera openings, bunk beds and a dry toilet. Warm sleeping bags, cold snacks and drinks are provided. Cooking is not permitted because food smells and noise could disturb the animals or affect their natural behaviour.

The difficulty is adapted to the participants. Your guide selects one of four possible routes according to your fitness, interests and current trail conditions. Expect natural forest paths, uneven terrain and some ascents and descents.

Oulanka National Park is famous for its dramatic river valleys, rushing rapids, steep gorges, suspension bridges and pine forests. It is also crossed by the celebrated Karhunkierros, or Bear’s Trail, one of Finland’s best-known hiking routes. This experience explores a selected section of the park rather than the entire long-distance trail.

This experience takes place at a carefully selected private wilderness location in Eastern Finland region. The exact location is shared with confirmed guests. The one-way vehicle transfer from Rovaniemi to the activity starting point usually takes approximately 120–150 minutes. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included. This estimate refers only to the one-way journey by vehicle to the point where the activity begins. It does not include the activity itself.
