This experience combines professional photography, expert weather analysis, flexible route planning and small-group travel. Your guide does not follow the same itinerary every evening: weather maps, cloud cover and aurora forecasts are analysed before departure to identify the most promising direction.

Several stops can be made as conditions change, and your guide remains in contact with the wider guiding team for local updates. The optional Aurora Pass also allows you to reserve several consecutive evenings instead of relying on a single attempt.

There is no fixed route because the most suitable viewing direction changes with the weather. Your guide analyses the latest forecasts and plans the evening around cloud movement, clearer areas, road conditions and safety. The tour may include several stops to observe the sky and respond to changing conditions.

No. The Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon, and successful observation requires both sufficient aurora activity and a clear or partly clear sky. No responsible tour operator can guarantee a sighting. Nordic Odyssey provides favourable opportunities through detailed forecasting, local knowledge, flexible planning and professional observation equipment. Choosing the Aurora Pass gives you several possible evenings, but the final result always depends on nature.

Nordic Odyssey provides an honest assessment of the expected conditions rather than creating unrealistic expectations. The guide may adjust the departure time, change direction or select different viewing locations when clearer skies may be available.

Aurora Pass guests can choose another reserved evening. If you would prefer a different experience, the team may also help you reschedule or change to another evening activity, subject to availability and the applicable booking conditions. Tours are normally cancelled by Nordic Odyssey only when travelling conditions are considered unsafe.

The single hunt is ideal when you have only one available evening or prefer to book one focused experience. If you are staying for several consecutive nights, the Aurora Pass provides greater flexibility and more opportunities to participate under favourable conditions. Neither option can guarantee a Northern Lights sighting.

The Aurora Pass reserves your place for at least three consecutive evenings. Each morning, you receive an understandable weather report explaining the expected cloud cover and viewing conditions. You can then participate on one, several or all your reserved evenings according to the forecast and your energy level.

The pass is particularly valuable because the Northern Lights and local weather can change considerably from one evening to another. Having several opportunities may improve your overall chances and allows you to experience different colours, intensities and forms of aurora activity. Sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.

The activity location is selected shortly before departure according to real-time weather and cloud cover, aurora forecasts, snow and ice conditions, accessibility and safety, as well as, where relevant, the group’s mobility, skills, fitness and comfort. The objective is to optimize the opportunity to observe the Northern Lights whenever possible within the booked timeframe. When relevant, the guide discusses suitable options with participants, but makes the final decision for safety and practical reasons. Travel from Rovaniemi is integrated into the experience, so there is no separate transfer time to an activity starting point. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included.
