Located beside Urho Kekkonen National Park, Saariselkä offers year-round activities and easy access to the fells and forests of Northern Lapland. Winter experiences include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, husky adventures, snowshoeing, and Northern Lights tours. In summer and during the colorful autumn ruska season, visitors can explore the landscape through hiking, cycling, paddling, and other outdoor activities.
Ivalo Airport, Finland’s northernmost airport, is approximately 25–30 minutes from Saariselkä and offers regular connections from Helsinki, as well as seasonal winter flights from several European cities. Saariselkä can also be reached by bus, car, or private transfer from Rovaniemi, approximately 260 kilometers away. The area offers a wide range of accommodations, including hotels, traditional cottages, apartments, and glass-roofed cabins, and booking well in advance is recommended for the winter season.
