Discover the winter landscapes of Pyhä-Luosto National Park on a private snowshoeing adventure from Rovaniemi. After an approximately 1.5-hour drive each way, explore a national park shaped by a 35-kilometre fell chain that formed part of an ancient mountain range. The original Pyhätunturi National Park was established in 1938 and expanded in 2005 to include the Luosto area.
Your guide will introduce the snowshoeing equipment and adapt the route and pace to the group’s ability and current conditions. No previous snowshoeing experience is required, although moderate fitness is recommended. The route normally covers approximately 4-8 kilometres through old-growth forests and fell terrain, with snow-laden trees and panoramic viewpoints along the selected route.
Along the way, learn about the park’s geology, forests, wildlife and tracks found in the snow. Pause at an authorized rest area for a Finnish snack and hot drinks beside an open fire, subject to current fire regulations. As this is a fully private experience, there is time to take photographs, enjoy the surroundings and explore at a pace suited to your group.
