DESCRIPTION
KOROUOMA CANYON & AUTTIKÖNGÄS WATERFALLS
The trip starts in Rovaniemi, where your outdoor guide will pick you up and drive you to the canyon and nature reserve of Korouoma, located approximately 1.5 hours away.
Once you arrive, you hike down into the canyon, surrounded by beautiful nature and picturesque cliffs. The protected reserve showcases stunning landscapes that change with the seasons, offering a unique experience.
The hike covers about 5 km through pine forests, down into the canyon, along the river, and past cliffs. Throughout the journey, your guide share their knowledge of the arctic nature and passion for Lapland. To recharge, you enjoy a delicious Finnish barbecue lunch that keeps you warm and satisfied.
On the way back to Rovaniemi, you will visit Auttiköngäs to see the impressive waterfalls and surrounding gorge landscape. You can opt for a short walk to view the falls or extend the tour with a longer 5 km hike to an observation tower for an additional fee of 30 euros/person. If you wish to add the extended hike, please contact us at info@nordicodyssey.net.
IMPORTANT
The main hike follows a 5km trail into the canyon, with a few sections which can be more tricky. Although it does not require any specific technical skills, the hike still requires a certain physical condition and an ability to confidently walk long distances. For everyone’s comfort and safety, participants must be in good physical condition and free from mobility impairments. The hike is not recommended for children under six years old.

PLEASE NOTE
We recommend to book in advance, as availability can be limited during peak seasons.
To operate the trip, a minimum of two paying adult participants is required. We reserve the right to cancel if the group is too small or due to bad weather conditions.
If you are a solo traveler, you are very welcome to join any departing trip at the standard price. Alternatively, we can organize a private trip just for you at an additional cost (please contact us for details).
Child prices apply only to children under 12 years old and children must be accompanied by one adult. The child rate is valid only if two paying adults participate. This excursion is not recommended for children under 6 years old. If you wish to join with a child younger than 6, please contact us in advance, as participation requires prior approval. For children weighing up to 20 kg, we can provide a hiking backpack carrier.
Please dress appropriately according to the weather, including good hiking shoes, hats, sunglasses or rain/warm clothing.
Since the tour involves a fair amount of walking, it is not recommended for pregnant travelers, people with heart conditions, or those with limited mobility.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled between 7 days and 24h before departure.
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 24h or less before departure.
