Explore Lapland’s winter wilderness after dark on a guided Northern Lights snowshoeing and photography tour from Rovaniemi. Travel away from the city lights and follow your outdoor guide through snow-covered forests toward a frozen lake, hilltop, or another open location selected according to the weather, snow, and aurora forecast.
Before starting, your guide will help you adjust your snowshoes and explain how to move safely through the snow. Headlamps, snowshoes, and poles are provided. Along the route, learn how the Northern Lights form and hear stories connected to the phenomenon while enjoying the silence of the Arctic night. Stop for biscuits and hot berry juice as you watch the sky.
This experience focuses on snowshoeing and nature, with the location selected according to the weather, snow conditions, and aurora forecast within up to 80 kilometers of Rovaniemi. Rather than traveling long distances in search of clear skies, the tour combines active exploration with an opportunity to see and photograph the Northern Lights. Aurora sightings and Northern Lights photographs cannot be guaranteed.

- The tour requires a minimum of two paying adults to operate. We reserve the right to cancel if the minimum group size is not reached or if weather conditions are unsafe.
- Solo travellers are welcome to join any confirmed departure at the standard price or book a private departure for an additional fee.
- For safety reasons, this tour is not suitable for pregnant travellers or guests with limited mobility.

Can I be picked up from my accommodation
Pickup is included in the tour price from the standard pickup locations listed below.
When booking, you can choose pickup or meet at the designated meeting point.
To reduce the environmental impact of unnecessary short-distance vehicle transfers, guests staying less than 750 m from the Nordic Odyssey office are required to meet directly at the office. Pickup is therefore not provided within this area.
Pickup is included within 8 km of Rovaniemi centre.
Pickup outside the standard area may be possible for an additional charge. A location on the route to the activity may sometimes be included at no extra cost.
If your accommodation is not listed, select the custom accommodation option during booking and enter the address. The pickup request is subject to confirmation.
