DESCRIPTION

To help you fully enjoy the charm of the early winter season, we are currently offering special promotions on this tour from 15.11.2024 to 14.12.2024!

Enjoy winter like a local

Ice fishing has been part of the local culture in the Far North for centuries. Traditionally it was one of the rare ways to get food in wintertime when the conditions are the roughest. Nowadays, many Finnish people still enjoy sitting on a frozen lake for hours to try to catch their lunch and relax. So, don’t you want to try?

Experience the magic of Lapland with this unique tour that combines relaxation and local hobby. Departing from Rovaniemi, your expert guide will lead you to a charming riverside location featuring a sauna with stunning panoramic views.

You will be shown the basics of ice-fishing, how to drill your hole in the ice, and the different techniques to catch a fish. If you are lucky and get a good catch, your guide will even show you how to prepare it.

The fishing time is approximately 1h. Typical Finnish snacks and hot drinks are served around an open fire. If you catch a fish of a decent size, your guide can prepare it and add it to the menu!

After your ice fishing experience, you will unwind and relax in the panoramic sauna that has been getting hot and ready for you while you were fishing. Your guide will lit the wood-burner in the sauna and give you more instructions how to use it in the very Finnish way, so you do not have to do anything but enjoy the delightful moment! Feel the warmth of the sauna as you take in breathtaking views of the landscape with perhaps the chance to see a beautiful sunset.

Sauna towels, soaps, birch tar oil and other equipment needed will be provided by your guide (please bring your swimsuit if you need to ; or sauna can also be naked like Finns usually do…). The experience is always private and the guide will give you all privacy needed.

There is also a wooden path that leads directly to the river if you would like to take a dip in the avanto (hole in the ice). It is very healthy to alternate hot sauna with fresh water (or at least cold air).
