How many other participants will be on the tour?

This experience is operated in a small group, with a usual maximum of 8 participants.

At Nordic Odyssey, we deliberately keep our groups small and stay away from mass tourism. Even during peak season, we do not increase group sizes beyond our small-group philosophy.

Outside the busiest periods, the group may be smaller than the stated maximum. In some cases, your party may even be the only participants, making the experience effectively private.

A small tour group does not necessarily mean that every place visited will be private. Farms, museums and other public attractions may also welcome other visitors, especially during peak season.

If your party is larger than 8 participants, please contact us. We may be able to arrange a private option for a larger group.

How can I cancel my reservation for this tour?

We understand that travel plans can sometimes change. Although we hope everything goes smoothly, unexpected situations can happen, and we aim to make the cancellation process as clear and straightforward as possible.

The cancellation conditions for this experience are based on the tour operator's policy. A minimum cancellation fee of 10% applies to all customer cancellations to cover payment-processing and administrative costs. Where the tour operator's cancellation fee is higher, the higher fee applies.

Less than 1 day before departure: non-refundable.
Between 1 day and 7 days before departure: 50% cancellation fee.
Between 7 days and 365 days before departure: 10% cancellation fee.

How to request a cancellation

All cancellation requests must be submitted to us in writing. Please email info@nordicodyssey.net and include your booking reference number so that we can identify and process your reservation. The applicable cancellation fee is determined by the time we receive your written request.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance before your trip. Depending on the terms of your policy, insurance may cover cancellation costs caused by unexpected circumstances such as illness, an accident, a family emergency or another unforeseen event. Cancellation related to illness is commonly covered by suitable travel insurance, but coverage and required documentation vary between insurers, so please check your policy carefully.

What should I bring?

Participants must arrive suitably dressed for cold winter weather. We recommend wearing warm clothing, comfortable hiking shoes or winter boots, gloves, and a hat. Dressing in layers will help you stay comfortable throughout the tour.The food and drinks mentioned in the tour description will be provided. However, we recommend bringing extra snacks and a bottle of water if needed. Please also eat well before your tour.

What makes this husky and reindeer safari different from shorter animal experiences in Rovaniemi?

The tour combines complete visits to two separate locations rather than offering only brief introductory rides. You experience a two-kilometre reindeer sleigh journey at a five-generation farm, a five-kilometre self-driven husky safari at an ethical kennel and meaningful interaction with both herders and mushers. A homemade lunch and fireside pancakes connect the two experiences.

Can I drive both the reindeer sleigh and the husky sled?

The reindeer journey is led by an experienced herder because reindeer are semi-wild animals, so guests cannot drive that sleigh themselves. Adults aged 18 and over may drive the husky sled after receiving instructions from the mushers. Participants can usually alternate between driving and travelling as a passenger. Final sled assignments are made by the animal handlers.

Is the husky safari ethical, and how is animal welfare protected?

Yes. Nordic Odyssey works with a local kennel partner experienced in caring for and training working sled dogs. Most are Alaskan huskies—athletic dogs with a strong natural motivation to run, for whom regular exercise is an important part of their well-being. After the safari, you can meet the huskies and speak directly with the mushers about their training, individual personalities and everyday care.

Can children participate in the husky safari?

Yes, children aged four and older may participate when accompanied by an adult. Only adults aged 18 and over may drive the husky sled , while children travel as passengers.

Where does this tour take place, and how long is the transfer from Rovaniemi?

Accepted Answer

This experience visits a carefully selected husky kennel and a traditional reindeer farm in Rovaniemi region. The exact locations are shared with confirmed guests. The one-way vehicle transfer from Rovaniemi to the activity starting point takes approximately 45 minutes. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included. This estimate refers only to the one-way journey by vehicle to the point where the activity begins. It does not include the activity itself.
