Experience traditional ice fishing near Rovaniemi on a safe frozen lake or river surrounded by Lapland’s peaceful winter landscape. Discover why ice fishing has been part of life in the Far North for centuries and experience the calm rhythm of fishing like a local.
After pickup, your outdoor guide will choose a suitable fishing location based on the current ice and weather conditions. Learn how to use an ice auger, drill your own hole, prepare the fishing line, and try different techniques for attracting fish beneath the ice. Your guide will remain with the group to explain the activity and assist throughout the experience.
While you fish, enjoy the silence of the frozen landscape and gather beside an open fire for traditional snacks and hot drinks. If you catch a fish that is large enough, your guide will show you how to prepare and cook it over the fire. A catch depends on the weather, location, and natural behavior of the fish, so it cannot be guaranteed.

- The small group tour requires a minimum of two paying adults to operate. We reserve the right to cancel if the minimum group size is not reached or if weather conditions are unsafe.
- Solo travellers are welcome to join any confirmed departure at the standard price or book a private departure for an additional fee.
- For private experience, a fixed group price in based on the number of participants.

Can I be picked up from my accommodation
Pickup is included in the tour price from the standard pickup locations listed below.
When booking, you can choose pickup or meet at the designated meeting point.
To reduce the environmental impact of unnecessary short-distance vehicle transfers, guests staying less than 750 m from the Nordic Odyssey office are required to meet directly at the office. Pickup is therefore not provided within this area.
Pickup is included within 8 km of Rovaniemi centre.
Pickup outside the standard area may be possible for an additional charge. A location on the route to the activity may sometimes be included at no extra cost.
If your accommodation is not listed, select the custom accommodation option during booking and enter the address. The pickup request is subject to confirmation.
