DESCRIPTION
Take advantage of the low season and experience the winter wonderland of Lapland with our Early Winter Holiday starting in November. This package combines a visit to Rovaniemi, famous as Santa Claus’ official hometown, with a stay in a cozy cottage amidst the serene nature of Ylläs National Park.
DAY 1: WELCOME TO ROVANIEMI
Your guide will meet you directly at Rovaniemi Airport or train station. You will receive a presentation of your schedule for the week, be provided with professional winter clothing and boots, and review other practical details and questions with your guide. For the first two nights, you will be accommodated in the chosen accommodation.
In the evening, you will take part in one of Norther Lights Photography Hunt (4.5h) with one of our aurora expert! The usual departure time is around 19:00 and we recommend to have your dinner in the hotel before that.
DAY 2 & 3: ACTIVITIES IN ROVANIEMI
On those days, you can choose one or two activities (depending on their duration) departing from Rovaniemi. Here are our favourite options:
- Visit on your own of Santa Claus Village or with a guided tour by Electric Fatbike: entrance to Santa Claus Village is free of charge; you can explore the village at your own pace and reach it by public transport, shuttle, taxi, or by renting our electric fatbikes as an optional extra.
- Hike to Korouoma Canyon and its frozen waterfalls
- Visit of a Traditional Reindeer Farm & Husky Adventure with Sled / Cart (depending on snow conditions)
- Visit Ranua Wildlife Park
- Finnish Legends & Tales evening
TRANSFER TO YLLÄS NATIONAL PARK
In the afternoon of your third day, you will drive toward Ylläs-Pallas National Park, arriving at our charming cottage at the park’s entrance. After a full day of activities, relax in your private cottage, complete with a sauna and a stunning river view.
It is the perfect place to disconnect from the everyday life stress and have a restful sleep.
DAY 4 – 6: ACTIVITIES IN YLLÄS
These days offer the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the peaceful beauty of Lapland. Our program is designed for flexibility, allowing you to enjoy outdoor adventures during the day and create your own unforgettable experiences.
Here are some of our favorite options:
SNOWSHOEING TO THE TOP OF THE FELL (6 -7 H)
Snowshoeing is a great way to immerse yourself in nature, because it allows you to go off the beaten path and get to places that you cannot reach by car or on foot. This snowshoe experience will offer your guide the opportunity to teach you more about the surrounding nature, local life, how to survive in the Arctic and so many other things. All of this while you climb to the top of the fell to enjoy panoramic views from the summit!
ICE FISHING ON THE FROZEN LAKE (3-4 H)
Ice fishing has been part of local culture in the Far North for centuries. Traditionnally it was one of the rare ways to get food in wintertime when the conditions are the roughest. You will be shown the basics of ice-fishing, how to drill your hole in the ice, and the different techniques to catch a fish. If you are lucky and get a good catch, your guide will even show you how to prepare it! The tour is combined with a snowshoe hike.
ENJOYING A FINNISH SAUNA
Our private chalets are equipped with a Finnish sauna, which you are free to use as many times as you want! Your guide will show you how to turn the stove on and give you advice about using the sauna like a local. Alternating the hot sauna with a cold shower (or, if you are brave, with a roll in the snow in front of your cabin) has been proven beneficial for the immunity system, a great bonus for this relaxing time!
FINNISH CUISINE WORKSHOP
Complete your Lappish experience with a local cuisine workshop prepared by your guide. Learn about what grows in Lappish forests, and how the locals use it to complement their diet. Try reindeer, salmon, and local squeeky cheese while preparing delicious meals together with your guide!
NORTHERN LIGHTS PHOTOGRAPGY HUNTING (4H)
This guided tour is a proper aurora hunting experience! We will depart from your chalet and drive in the most promising direction (based on a long analysis of the weather by your dedicated guide before the tour starts). We will stop as many times as needed to regularly check the sky and discover more of Lapland landscapes. You will receive all the pictrures in high quality after the holiday.
DAY 7: DEPARTURE FROM KITTILÄ
PRIVATE TRANSFER TO KITTILÄ OR ROVANIEMI
According to your flight departure time, a transfer to the airport will be arranged, allowing you to peacefully enjoy your final moments in Lapland, filled with unforgettable memories.

In Ylläs, the accommodation is at our comfortable wooden cottage located on the shore of a river, and in the middle of beautiful Lappish nature. Pallas-Yllästunturi national park begins just at your doorstep, and this is where your guide will take you to experience arctic outdoor activities.
SMALL FAMILY COTTAGE – SUVANTO
The chalet has 2 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom with a sauna. It’s ideal for couples, small families, and small groups of friends. The cottage has a double bed (alcove on the ground floor) and a twin bedroom upstairs. A sofa bed in the living room can accommodate one more person.
Capacity: a maximum of 5 people
LARGE COTTAGE – LAINIOKOSKI
The chalet has 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom with a sauna. It’s ideal for larger or multi-generation families, and groups of friends. The cottage has a double bed and two twin bedrooms upstairs. There are 2 more single beds available on the alcove upstairs.

Transportation and most of the activities are private. Participants will be led by their own private professional guide during the whole trip.
A minimum of 2 adult participants is required for the trip to operate. The maximum capacity is 6 people for comfort reasons. For larger groups, please contact us and we can discuss a specific package.
Child rate applies from 5 to 12 years old. Because of long distance trips and the rough winter conditions in Lapland, we do not recommend to bring infants aged less than 5 years old.
Private transportation by minivan. One luggage and handbag per person allowed.
You will be provided with professional Winter overalls and boots if needed. However, please dress appropriately with warm inner clothes, two pairs of socks, gloves and hats.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 20% if booking is cancelled 61 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 60 days or less before departure.
