What is it really like to live in one of Europe's most remote Arctic villages? This intimate, small-group experience invites you inside the life of Ylläsjärvi — the village, its history and the family that has called it home for generations.
We begin with a short walking tour of the oldest houses and yards in the village, where Johanna shares the stories behind the buildings, the people and the community that shaped this place over centuries. Then we step into Johanna's own home — a traditional Finnish wooden house — for the most personal part of the visit. You'll make your own handcrafted Lappish souvenir from natural antler materials, rooted in local culture and the ancient traditions of shamanism. To finish, a locally smoked salmon soup and dessert prepared from Lapland recipes.

- Instead of pick-up and drop-off, you can arrive to our Safari Office also by your own car, by skibus and by foot.

This tour starts from our Safari Office located in the centre of village Ylläsjärvi. You can arrive at our Safari Office by foot, by skibus or by car. You can park your car in front of our Safari Office at Tirroniementie 2 C, 95980 YLLÄSJÄRVI Skibus stops in Eelin kauppa, 100 metres from our Safari Office. Arrive at least 20 min before the activity starts. Pick up your winter gear from our Safari Office. Wait until the tour begins.
