DESCRIPTION
Experience the best of autumn in Lapland with a holiday package that combines Northern Lights hunting each night, hiking through the vibrant colours of the Arctic autumn, and visits to traditional husky and reindeer farms. Stay in comfortable city-centre accommodation and discover the very best of Lapland through authentic nature experiences, local culture, and unforgettable Arctic landscapes.
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL
Welcome to Lapland!
Your guide will meet you directly at Rovaniemi Airport or train station. You will receive a presentation of your schedule for the week, be provided with professional winter clothing and boots, and review other practical details and questions with your guide.
You will then transfer to your accommodation located in the city center, where you will stay for the duration of your holiday. Your half-board package includes daily breakfast and dinner, allowing you to relax and enjoy your time in Lapland without worrying about meal arrangements.
On your first evening, you will go for your first Northern lights photography hunting. Autumn and early winter are a good period to observe auroras. The nights are getting long, offering more opportunity to spot the green arches and the temperatures are aditedly cold but not as extreme as during Winter. This is also a good time for photography!
Based on the weather forecasts and space conditions, your guide will drive in the most promising directions to increase your chance. Your guide, who is an aurora expert, will share all his knowledge about this fantastic phenomenon and the mythology associated to it. And of course, all pictures taken with the professional camera will be sent to you in high quality!

DAY 2 – ANIMAL DAY
Today, you will discover the emblematic animal of Lapland. Let’s go for a Reindeer & Husky Tour !
After being picked up, you will be transported to an ethical husky kennel located just outside of Rovaniemi. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcome by the dogs and mushers ! You’ll have plenty of time to interact with the dogs, who absolutely love cuddles and posing for photos. Throughout the experience, the mushers will be happy to share their knowledge, answering all your questions about the dogs and the world of huskies, all while you relax around a cozy open fire. The session will last approximately 1h30, providing you with an in-depth experience of everything related to these incredible animals !
After that, your guide will drive you to your second stop of the day, a long-established local reindeer farm. The herders will gladly welcome you and introduce you to their reindeer while they are fed. This is your chance to gently approach the reindeer as they are still semi-wild animals. You will also enjoy a lovely time around the fire at the farm, where herders and your guide may answer all your questions about reindeer husbandry. A delicious home-made salmon soup will be served with hot drinks (vegan option possible on request), and pancakes cooked over the open fire !
We will see you in the evening for your second Northern Lights hunting experience, as we head out once again in search of the Aurora Borealis under the Arctic night sky.

DAY 3 – EXPLORE LAPLAND NATURE
Let’s go today for an Arctic Wilderness Hike with Fire-Making to discover Lapland landscapes. The hike is always adapted to the level of the group with different difficulty options, and is usually around 5 km. The tour lasts 4h. Lapland is worth exploring in colorful autumn.
The experience is designed to go through some elusive nature area or reach some viewpoints over the immense subarctic forests. Along the way, your outdoor guide will explain to you about your surroundings, the fauna and flora, footprints in the early snow or in the mud, how to use trees or mushrooms, identify the berries to eat, and some other basics of how to survive in such difficult conditions.
A break with an open fire will also allow you to grill a typical Finnish snack with hot beverages. This is a great opportunity for your guide to show you how to build a fire in arctic conditions and answer all your questions about Lapland.
If you wish, on the way back, your guide can drop you off at Santa Claus Village. Entry is free, and you are welcome to explore the magical village at your own pace. Meet Santa Claus, visit the famous Post Office where all letters to Santa are received, and cross the Arctic Circle.

DAY 4 – DEPARTURE
After a delicious breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Lapland. Our driver will take you to the airport or train station and wish you a pleasant journey home. We hope to see you again in Lapland, and why not in winter or summer?

With the Aurora Pass, your seat is reserved for 3 consecutive nights. You can then join the tour on any of those nights, or all of them, depending on the weather forecast and your energy level. The more nights you try, the higher your chances of seeing the Northern Lights.
Transportation and most of the activities are in small groups. Participants will be accompanied by a professional guide during the experiences.
A minimum of 2 adult participants is required for the trip to operate. For large groups (more than 8 participants), please contact us and we can discuss a specific package.
Children can join this package from 8 years old. Younger children may join an adapted version of the program, please make a request and we will be happy to offer a specific program.
November is an uncertain mount in term of snow amount. It’s important to know that the first snow may appear but it doens’t enought to enjoy snow activites such as snowmobile or sleigh dogs and reindeers. More information on this blogpost!
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 20% if booking is cancelled 31 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 30 days or less before departure.
