Discover the winter landscapes of Pyhä-Luosto on a full-day snowshoeing adventure from Rovaniemi. After approximately 1.5 hours of transportation, follow your outdoor guide through snow-covered forests and natural fell terrain toward Lampivaara Café. The snowshoeing route covers approximately 6–8 kilometers, depending on the snow, weather, and group conditions.
From Lampivaara Café, board the heated Amethyst Pendolino for the final journey to Lampivaara Amethyst Mine. During the guided visit, learn about the local geology, the formation of amethyst, and the history of the mine before searching for your own stone. Lampivaara is an open-air mine, with the winter digging area located on the surface of the fell. It is sheltered from snow and wind, but the temperature remains close to the outdoor temperature. Each participant may keep one amethyst that fits inside their closed fist.
After the mine visit, enjoy an included lunch at iconic Lampivaara Café before continuing the return journey through the winter landscape. This experience combines a substantial snowshoe hike, the fell scenery of Pyhä-Luosto, and a guided visit to one of Lapland’s most distinctive geological attractions. It is designed for active travelers who want to explore the surrounding nature.

- The small group tour requires a minimum of two paying adults to operate. We reserve the right to cancel if the minimum group size is not reached or if weather conditions are unsafe.
- Solo travellers are welcome to join any confirmed departure at the standard price or book a private departure for an additional fee.
- For private experience, a fixed group price in based on the number of participants.

Pickup is included in the tour price from the standard pickup locations listed below.
When booking, you can choose pickup or meet at the designated meeting point.
To reduce the environmental impact of unnecessary short-distance vehicle transfers, guests staying less than 750 m from the Nordic Odyssey office are required to meet directly at the office. Pickup is therefore not provided within this area.
Pickup is included within 8 km of Rovaniemi centre.
Pickup outside the standard area may be possible for an additional charge. A location on the route to the activity may sometimes be included at no extra cost.
