Discover Korouoma Canyon on a guided frozen-waterfalls hike from Rovaniemi. After a drive of approximately 90 minutes, you will reach this protected nature reserve, known for its steep rock walls, snow-covered pine forests and remarkable ice formations created as water freezes against the canyon cliffs.
Before entering the trail, your guide will provide high-quality adjustable ice cleats, which fit easily over your own hiking shoes or winter boots. They provide additional grip on snowy and icy sections, helping you walk safely and confidently as you descend through the forest, follow the frozen river and admire dramatic curtains, columns and towers of ice from carefully selected viewpoints.
Along the way, your outdoor guide will share information about Korouoma’s geology, Arctic forests and wildlife. Pause beside an open fire for a traditional Finnish barbecue with grilled sausages before continuing through the peaceful winter landscape. The experience combines winter hiking, nature interpretation and close views of Korouoma’s seasonal frozen waterfalls, with time to appreciate the silence and scenery of the canyon.

- The tour requires a minimum of two paying adults to operate. We reserve the right to cancel if the minimum group size is not reached or if weather conditions are unsafe.
- Solo travellers are welcome to join any confirmed departure at the standard price or book a private departure for an additional fee.
- A certain amount of walking is involved. To ensure a comfortable and safe experience, this tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers or guests with limited mobility.

When booking, you can choose pickup or meet at the designated meeting point.
To reduce the environmental impact of unnecessary short-distance vehicle transfers, guests staying less than 750 m from the Nordic Odyssey office are required to meet directly at the office. Pickup is therefore not provided within this area.
Pickup is included within 8 km of Rovaniemi centre.
Pickup outside the standard area may be possible for an additional charge. A location on the route to the activity may sometimes be included at no extra cost.
