Private Family Northern Lights Snowshoeing & Photography Tour

• Participants must arrive suitably dressed for cold winter weather. We recommend wearing warm clothing, comfortable hiking shoes or winter boots, gloves, and beanies. Dressing in layers will help you stay comfortable throughout the tour.
• The food and drinks listed in the tour inclusions are provided. We recommend eating a good meal before departure and bringing extra snacks and a bottle of water.

Yes. Your guide will photograph your group with a professional camera, allowing you to enjoy the experience without worrying about camera settings. There is no fixed limit on the number of photos. All successful images and portraits will be sent by email within the following days through a private high-resolution download link. When the Northern Lights appear, your guide will also take professional aurora portraits. Because visibility depends on weather and solar activity, aurora sightings and portraits cannot be guaranteed. Your guide will still capture memories of your tour and the surrounding landscape.

Child-sized snowshoes are available from EU shoe size 27, and your guide will help each participant adjust and use the equipment before the tour. A sled is provided for younger children who are too small for snowshoes or need to rest along the way. The route, pace, and walking time are adapted to your family’s ages, abilities, and energy levels.

No previous experience is required. Before the tour, your guide will help you adjust the snowshoes and explain how to walk, turn, and move safely on uphill and downhill sections. Walking through deep snow and uneven natural terrain is more physically demanding than walking on a cleared path. A moderate level of fitness and good general mobility are recommended.

Your guide chooses the destination shortly before departure using the latest weather, snow, and aurora forecasts. Depending on the conditions, the tour may take place in a quiet forest, beside a frozen lake, or near an open viewpoint within approximately 45 minutes of Rovaniemi. The aim is to find suitable snowshoeing terrain with limited light pollution and the clearest available view of the Arctic sky.

The activity location is selected shortly before departure according to real-time weather and cloud cover, aurora forecasts, snow and ice conditions, accessibility and safety, as well as, where relevant, the group’s mobility, skills, fitness and comfort. The objective is to optimize the opportunity to observe the Northern Lights whenever possible within the booked timeframe. When relevant, the guide discusses suitable options with participants, but makes the final decision for safety and practical reasons. Travel from Rovaniemi is integrated into the experience, so there is no separate transfer time to an activity starting point. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included.
