The Northern Lights are a dream for many Lapland visitors — and a snowmobile is one of the most thrilling ways to chase them. This guided evening snowmobile safari takes you away from the lights of the village and deep into the dark Arctic wilderness, where the sky above is extraordinary whether the aurora appears or not.
Have you ever seen the Milky Way stretch from horizon to horizon? Picked out the North Star without a phone? Your guide knows these skies, these trails and these stories — the old beliefs and the science behind the aurora, and how to read a clear night in Finnish Lapland. We ride out across 20-30 kilometres of winter terrain, stop in an open spot and watch. If the lights come, they'll come properly out here.
Minimum age 13. Solo drive upgrade available. Maximum 10 adults.
Note: The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a natural atmospheric phenomenon and, as such, cannot be guaranteed on any given night. Their appearance depends on a combination of factors beyond our control, including solar activity, cloud cover, and atmospheric conditions.
At North Wind Lapland, we take you to optimal viewing locations away from light pollution — but nature always has the final word.
No refund or compensation will be offered in the event that the Northern Lights are not visible during your safari. What we do guarantee is an unforgettable Arctic experience, expert guiding, and every effort made on your behalf to chase the lights.

- Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and we can't guarantee they will appear but we will offer you the best conditions in case the shows is on!
Please note
Operated during winter season (snow and weather permitting). Minimum number of participants required for each safari is 2 full paying adults.
Snowmobile Safari Guidelines and Safety Information:
· The snowmobile driver must be at least 17 years old and hold a valid driving license recognized in Finland. Operating a motorized vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited by Finnish law.
· The safari includes third-party and comprehensive insurance with a maximum self-liability of € 990 in case of an accident. Please be aware that snowmobiling carries similar risks to driving any motor vehicle, and accidents may result in injury. The driver is responsible for any damage caused to the snowmobile.
· Two people typically share a snowmobile, with the option to switch drivers halfway through the tour. For exclusive use of a snowmobile, a single driving supplement is not available on this tour. We recommend to book our Snowmobile Adventures for Adults -tour for single drivers.
· Children ride in a sledge during the safari. Children starting from 13 years old ride as passengers on a snowmobile
· Children under 13 years old sit in the sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile. If a child under 13 years old is taller than 140cm, the child may sit as a a passenger on the snowmobile if seats are available, subject to the guide’s final safety decision. In that case, an adult price will be charged abd the price difference must be paid at the office before departure.
· Not recommended for pregnant women, individuals with fragile musculoskeletal systems, or those with certain health conditions.
Pick-up and drop-off information
· Pick-up times may differ from the safari start time depending on your accommodation. Please check your ticket for the correct pick-up time. Pick-up and drop-off services are included in Ylläsjärvi, for bigger groups also on request in Äkäslompolo.
· Instead of pick-up and drop-off, you can arrive to our Safari House also by your own car, by skibus and by foot. Our address is Tirroniementie 2C, 95980 Ylläsjärvi.

The meeting point for this experience is North Wind Lapland, Tirroniementie 2 C, 95980 YLLÄSJÄRVI, Lappi, FI.
This tour starts from our Safari Office located in the centre of village Ylläsjärvi. You can arrive at our Safari Office by foot, by skibus or by car. You can park your car in front of our Safari Office at Tirroniementie 2C, 95980 YLLÄSJÄRVI Skibus stops in Eelin kauppa, 100 metres from our Safari Office. Arrive at least 15 min before the activity starts. Pick up your winter gear from our Safari Office. Wait until the tour begins.

When booking, you can choose pickup or meet at the designated meeting point.
