Discover how sled dogs prepare for winter during a visit to a family-sized husky kennel in the Lapland wilderness. Meet the dogs and their mushers, learn about life at the kennel and discover why Alaskan huskies are particularly well suited to running. Their varied colours, coats and sizes make every dog unique.
After clear driving and safety instructions, take control of a self-driven wheeled cart for a 5 km ride lasting approximately 20 minutes. The cart makes it possible to experience the excitement of mushing before the snow arrives, following trails through Lapland’s colourful autumn forests.
Autumn cart rides form part of the huskies’ preparation for the winter sledding season. After the ride, enjoy time with the dogs for photographs and cuddles before gathering inside a traditional kota. Enjoy a sausage grilled over the fire, biscuits and hot berry juice while the mushers answer your questions about the dogs’ personalities, training and everyday care.

Pickup is included in the tour price from the standard pickup locations listed below.
When booking, you can choose pickup or meet at the designated meeting point.
To reduce the environmental impact of unnecessary short-distance vehicle transfers, guests staying less than 750 m from the Nordic Odyssey office are required to meet directly at the office. Pickup is therefore not provided within this area.
Pickup is included within 8 km of Rovaniemi centre.
Pickup outside the standard area may be possible for an additional charge. A location on the route to the activity may sometimes be included at no extra cost.
