Ruka is also an excellent base for exploring the surrounding national parks. Oulanka National Park, known for its rushing rivers, waterfalls, canyons, and the Karhunkierros hiking trail, is approximately 30 kilometers away. Kuusamo Airport is around a 30-minute drive from Ruka and offers connections from Helsinki and selected European cities. The resort provides hotels, apartments, cottages, restaurants, and other visitor services, with advance reservations recommended during the winter season.
