DESCRIPTION
IMMERSE YOURSELF IN LAPLAND’S HERITAGE WITH KATI!
Embark on an enriching journey through Lapland culture with Kati, a reindeer herder deeply rooted in the region. She’ll welcome you to her long-established reindeer farm, which has run in her family and the family of her husband for generations. You’ll have the opportunity to feed these emblematic Lappish animals and learn more about reindeer husbandry in Finland.
Afterwards, Kati will take you to a traditional wooden kota. Here, in the warmth of the open fire, Kati will share with you her knowledge about reindeer husbandry, and focusing on how to make simple jewelry from reindeer antlers or tanned leather. Kati indeed makes her own necklaces, wrist laces, buttons, leather poaches and many other beautiful handicrafts.
Depending on the time of the year, she may also explain and show how she tans and cares for reindeer furs to create bags and other accessories.
While you immerse yourself in the creative process and create your own jewelry (that you can keep) from reindeer leather laces, antlers and wooden pearls, wood-fired pancakes will be prepared for you. You can enjoy them right afterwards with delicious homemade blueberry jam made directly by Kati’s family.
Join us for this enriching experience at the heart of Lapland’s simple artisan heritage, and share a special moment with Kati and her reindeers.
LOOKING TO EXTEND THE EXPERIENCE?
For a more complete and private local experience,
you can add a session in our traditional wood-fired sauna.
If you choose this extra option (€70 per person), the whole experience, including the farm visit and workshop, as well as the sauna session of cours, will be private.

We recommend to book this experience in advance, as availability may be limited in peak seasons.
A minimum of 2 paying adult participants is required for the trip to operate. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if the group is too small.
If you are a solo traveler, we will require that you buy this private trip for the price of two adults.
Child prices apply only to children under 12 years old. The child rate only apply if the conditions of two paying adult participant is met.
Please dress appropriately according to the weather, especially for the reindeer farm visit. We also recommend to bring an extra chlothing set with you if you book the extra sauna session.
About sauna: the sauna takes a very important place in the traditions and culture of Finland. Finns normally go to sauna naked but it is possible to use your own swimsuit. Sauna stands for the bathroom in the wilderness cabins ; after enjoying the steam sauna, you may then take a natural shower with the hot clean waters!
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled between 7 days and 24h before departure.
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 24h or less before departure.
