DESCRIPTION
Reindeer is probably the most iconic animal of Lapland, it has played a significant part in local traditional lifestyle. Meeting those lovely semi-wild animals is always a unique experience for anyone visiting Rovaniemi!
We offer you two options to live a proper authentic reindeer farm experience.
OPTION 1: THE MORNING FARM VISIT
Enjoy a complete visit of an authentic reindeer farm, meet the herders and their animals, learn about their lifestyles and reindeer husbandry. As it is the first visit of the day, you will also get the chance to feed the reindeers with some of their favourite food. This is a great chance to approach the animals too, as reindeer are still very wild.
In winter, as soon as we have enough snow, you will have the opportunity to practice your driving skills with a self-driven short sleigh ride of 400-600 m (around 2-3 min).
We recommend this option: this option allows you to have a complete experience of the reindeer farm. Although the safari is short, you will learn more and spend more time with the animals. In option 2, the safari is longer but the visit itself is limited.

OPTION 2: THE LONG SAFARI
If you would like to enjoy a long reindeer ride safari (around 35 min), this option is your best choice!
As you arrive to the reindeer farm, you will be introduced to your own reindeer and sleigh. A herder will always be with you and will lead the caravan (please note that a self-driven ride is not posible on longer distances because reindeer are semi-wild animals).
Reindeer sleigh rides were traditionally a way of transportation for loads and passengers in Lapland. Nowadays, certain skillful herders continue training the best elements of their herds to perpetuate this tradition.
As you are enjoying a romantic ride, you will go through some beautiful forests and other typical snowy landscapes of Lapland.
After the ride, you will enjoy a lovely time at the farm, where herders may answer all your questions about reindeer husbandry.

We recommend to book in advance, as availability may be limited in peak seasons.
A minimum of 2 paying adult participants is required for the trip to operate. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if the group is too small or because of bad weather conditions.
If you are a solo traveler, you are very welcome to join any departing trip at the standard price or we may organise the trip just for you at some extra costs (please contact us).
Child prices apply only to children under 12 years old. Children must be accompanied by one adult. The child rate only apply if the conditions of two paying adult participant is met.
For the option 1 : Please note that children under 4 years old must be declared before booking and their participation is subject to our approval because of safety reasons.
For the option 2 : We do not recommend this tour for children under 8 years old. For families with young children, we recommend option 1. If you have doubts, please contact us in advance, as children under 8 are subject to our approval.
Please dress appropriately according to the weather, with warm clothes, good winter boots, gloves, hats and thick socks. You may rent professional winter overalls and winter boots for an extra cost of 5€/set.
The mentioned duration of the safari is only indicative; the experience may last longer or shorter, depending on snow conditions or the animal’s good willing.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled between 7 days and 24h before departure.
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 24h or less before departure.
