How many other participants will be on the tour?

This experience is operated in a small group, with a usual maximum of 8 participants.

At Nordic Odyssey, we deliberately keep our groups small and stay away from mass tourism. Even during peak season, we do not increase group sizes beyond our small-group philosophy.

Outside the busiest periods, the group may be smaller than the stated maximum. In some cases, your party may even be the only participants, making the experience effectively private.

A small tour group does not necessarily mean that every place visited will be private. Farms, museums and other public attractions may also welcome other visitors, especially during peak season.

If your party is larger than 8 participants, please contact us. We may be able to arrange a private option for a larger group.

How can I cancel my reservation for this tour?

We understand that travel plans can sometimes change. Although we hope everything goes smoothly, unexpected situations can happen, and we aim to make the cancellation process as clear and straightforward as possible.

The cancellation conditions for this experience are based on the tour operator's policy. A minimum cancellation fee of 10% applies to all customer cancellations to cover payment-processing and administrative costs. Where the tour operator's cancellation fee is higher, the higher fee applies.

Cancellation policy

Less than 1 day before departure: non-refundable.
Between 1 day and 7 days before departure: 50% cancellation fee.
Between 7 days and 365 days before departure: 10% cancellation fee.

How to request a cancellation

All cancellation requests must be submitted to us in writing. Please email info@nordicodyssey.net and include your booking reference number so that we can identify and process your reservation. The applicable cancellation fee is determined by the time we receive your written request.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance before your trip. Depending on the terms of your policy, insurance may cover cancellation costs caused by unexpected circumstances such as illness, an accident, a family emergency or another unforeseen event. Cancellation related to illness is commonly covered by suitable travel insurance, but coverage and required documentation vary between insurers, so please check your policy carefully.

What should I bring?

Participants must arrive suitably dressed for cold winter weather. We recommend wearing warm clothing, comfortable hiking shoes or winter boots, gloves, and a hat. Dressing in layers will help you stay comfortable throughout the tour.The food and drinks listed in the tour inclusions are provided. We recommend eating a good meal before departure and bringing extra snacks and a bottle of water.

During this experience, a local herder introduces you to the reindeer and leads your sleigh through the quiet, snow-covered forest. You will also learn about reindeer husbandry and the close relationship between the animals, their herders and Arctic nature. The gentle journey and personal cultural exchange offer a meaningful connection to Lapland beyond conventional sightseeing.

Can I drive the reindeer sleigh by myself?

No. A professional reindeer herder leads the caravan and remains with the group throughout the forest journey. Because reindeer are semi-wild animals, the sleighs are not self-driven on this route. Guests can relax as passengers, observe the reindeer and enjoy the silence and scenery of the Arctic forest.

Where does this tour take place, and how long is the transfer from Rovaniemi?

This experience takes place at a traditional reindeer farm in Rovaniemi region. The exact location is shared with confirmed guests. The one-way vehicle transfer from Rovaniemi to the activity starting point takes approximately 25 minutes. Round-trip transportation from Rovaniemi is included. This estimate refers only to the one-way journey by vehicle to the point where the activity begins. It does not include the activity itself.
