DAY 1: RIDE 35KM IN RIISITUNTURI NATIONAL PARK (S, D)
Your guide will collect you directly from your hotel in Rovaniemi or Ranua. If needed, you will be provided with warm winter clothing and boots (temperatures can be extremely cold in Lapland in winter!). You will then a 2-3 hours trip drive through Lapland wilderness before you reach your destination, the National Park of Riisitunturi. It is one of the most famous and picturesque nature area of Finland, because it offers postcard-like scenery with its fells and trees fully loaded of snow (they look like cotton!).
As you arrive to the husky kennel, you will be introduced to the mushers and their lovely dogs. The huskies are extremely friendly, it will not take long before they already adore you! Each participant will have their own dog team and sleigh (you may also be 2 participants per sleigh if you feel more comfortable).
Let’s go! The husky safari will let you discover the park of Riisitunturi in a very eco-friendly way (unlike most husky safaris, no snowmobile is used to lead the dogs!). Halfway, you will enjoy a delicious lunch snack around the fire.
In the evening, you will stop for the night in a wilderness cabin with no running water or electricity, located in the middle of nowhere. You may help the mushers take care of the dogs before enjoying a relaxing sauna and dinner.
And if you are lucky… maybe some Northern Lights will greet you from the sky!
DAY 2: ANOTHER 30KM (B, L)
Today, you will continue you fantastic ride across Riisitunturi national park with another 30km safari. This is another occasion to enjoy the wonders of Arctic nature and its very pure atmosphere!
Halfway, lunch will be served around the fire so you and the dogs can get some rest before you reach your final destination – the kennel where you started the day before.
At the end of the trip, you will have all the reasons to be proud of you! You have become a real musher and driven your team with success through rough Arctic conditions!
It is now time to say goodbye to your dogs and the mushers. Your guide will drive you back to your hotel in Rovaniemi (or Ranua).

PLEASE NOTE
We recommend to book in advance, as availability may be limited in peak seasons. The trip departs from Rovaniemi in the morning (around 7:30 AM) and returns to Rovaniemi the next day (around 19:00 PM).
A minimum of 2 adult participants is required for the trip to operate. The trip is limited in capacity for comfort reasons. For larger groups, please contact us and we can discuss a specific package.
Transportation by minivan. One luggage and handbag per person allowed.
Please dress appropriately with warm inner layers and multiple socks.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 20% if booking is cancelled 61 days or more before departure;
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 60 days or less before departure.
